April 4th and 5th - A hard fought two-one win over Stoke leaves Chelsea seven points clear at the top with a game in hand. Goals from Eden Hazard and Loic Remy either side of a wonder goal from Charlie Adam for the visitors leaves Jose Mourinho's side looking odds on for the title. With Man City not playing until Monday night, Arsenal moved into second place after a four-one hammering of Liverpool at the Emirates - three goals just before the break ended this one as a contest leaving Brendan Rodgers side most likely looking at Europa League football next season. Man United are third after a three-one win at home to Aston Villa - Ander Herrera scored twice in that one.

With the title and the Champions League spots seemingly settled already, the focus for the last few weeks of the season will be on the relegation battle. The big winners at the wrong end of the table this weekend were Leicester, QPR and Sunderland. Leicester beat West Ham two-one to keep their faint survival hopes alive. QPR went goal crazy at West Brom winning four-one. Sunderland beat Newcastle for the fifth time in a row. A single goal from Jermain Defoe saw Dick Advocaat win his first game at home.

Elsewhere, Everton beat Southampton one-nil at Goodison Park. Swansea beat Hull three-one and Burnley and Tottenham played out a scoreless draw at Turf Moor.

The early table for April sees Alan Boyle and Shane Horan share the lead on fifty points. Interestingly, both players failed to submit scores this weekend, relying on their joker scores to pick up their points. Maybe there's a lesson in that for the rest of us! Full details below:

One step closer....

Three goals of the
season in one weekend....

April 11th and 12th - Late goals are vital at this time of the season. Chelsea pulled one out of the bag with just three minutes left at Loftus Road to leave them needing eleven points from their last seven games to be crowned champions. Cesc Fabregas scored the only goal as QPR remained in the relegation zone. Man city's season has imploded completely. Defeat at Crystal Palace on Monday night was followed up with a four-two defeat at local rivals Man United in that one. Sergio Aguero scored twice in that one but unfortunately for the champions, United scored four in between to cement their Champions League spot for next season. Arsenal are also looking good for a top three finish now - Aaron Ramsey scored the winner early on away to Burnley.

At the bottom of the table, Leicester were the big winners - Jamie Vardy scored a last minute winner for them away to West Brom. They're still bottom of the table but that result gives them a vital lifeline and a chance of escape still. Hull and Sunderland are in freefall above them. Hull lost two-nil at Southampton. Sunderland conceded four at home to Crystal Palace, a sure sign that they're in the midst of a relegation battle. Aston Villa won one-nil at Tottenham thanks to a Christian Benteke strike - he's hitting form nicely ahead of next weekend's FA Cup Semi Final against Liverpool at Wembley.

In those games marked end of season, Everton and Swansea shared the points in the Welsh Derby at the Liberty Stadium. It was the same score at Upton Park where West Ham and Stoke met. Shane Horan continues to lead the April competition - he has 95 points and is ten clear of Andy Dunne, Cillian Conway and Simon Purdue.

Absolutely Fabregas....

Bragging rights....

April 18th and 19th - Chelsea have one hand firmly on the Premier League trophy after beating Man United one-nil at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening. It was typical Mourinho with Chelsea happy to soak up United's pressure and then strike through Eden Hazard just before half time. The one-nil result leaves them ten points clear of Arsenal with both teams having six to play. A win at the Emirates next Sunday followed by victory at Leicester will see Chelsea crowned champions before April is over.

Man City beat West Ham two-nil at the Etihad to get their Champions League qualification bid back on track. Spurs are sixth after a three-one win at freefalling Newcastle.

At the bottom of the table, Leicester won again - two-nil at home to Swansea. That leaves them level on points and games with Hull who sit fourth from bottom. Burnley lost one-nil at Everton and are now bottom of the table.

Saturday's other games saw Stoke beat Southampton two-one while there was victory for Tony Pulis on his return to Crystal Palace - West Brom won two-nil at Selhurst Park.

The April leaderboard sees Cillian Conway lead the way on 140 points - he's ten points clear of Aiden Desch and me in joint second place - time for my annual appearance in the upper reaches of the leaderboard for this season. If only I hadn't squandered 75 million last summer on cheap imports and unproven talent, eh Brendan?? Full details below:

Almost there....

April 25th and 26th - A nil-all draw at the Emirates was good enough for Chelsea to maintain their ten point lead at the top of the table. Wins against Leicester and Crystal Palace in their next two games will be good enough for them to clinch their fifth title in their illustrious eleven year history. Man City are back in second place after a three-two win at home to Aston Villa. They looked to be cruising to three points when they were two goals up late on - goals from Cleverley and Sanchez had Tim Sherwood's side level until Fernandinho scored a late winner for the Blues. Everton had their biggest win over Man United in twenty years - goals from McCarthy, Stones and Mirallas saw the Toffees beat their rivals three-nil.

Leicester's great escape continues - they had a dramatic one-nil win at Burnley. Matty Taylor missed a penalty for the hosts and Jamie Vardy then scored for Nigel Pearson's side within sixty seconds - on such moments seasons can turn. QPR also missed a penalty in their nil-all draw at home to West Ham. They're still in the bottom three. Hull were big winners in the relegation battle too - they won two-nil at Crystal Palace to move ahead of Sunderland who drew one-all at Stoke.

Elsewhere, Swansea set a club record for fifty points in the Premier League after their three-two win at Newcastle who have now lost seven on the bounce. West Brom and Liverpool failed to muster a goal between them at the Hawthorns. Southampton and Spurs shared four goals and the points after a two-all draw at St Marys.

With two games to go in the April competition, Cillian Conway now has a twenty point lead in the monthly competition - he's clear of myself and Aiden Desch in joint second place - full details below:

Gone in sixty seconds....

Stalemate between the best mates....

April 30th - Chelsea came from behind to win three-one at the King Power Stadium and leave themselves needing a win at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday to clinch the title. Goals from Drogba, Terry and Ramires leave Jose Mourinho's side on the brink of glory which should be confirmed at the weekend. It was also enough for Cillian Conway who saw off my brave challenge in second place to clinch the penultimate monthly prize of the season - full details below:
