September 13th and 14th - Chelsea were crowned champions after beating Swansea four-two at Stamford Bridge.... Well, not quite, but maybe sometime in early April next? They fell behind to an early own goal from John Terry but a hat-trick from Diego Costa and a fourth from Loic Remy saw them make it four wins from four to sit pretty at the top of the table. Aston Villa moved up to second in the table following their one-nil win at Anfield. Liverpool's home voodoo against Paul Lambert's side struck again as Gabriel Agbonlahor scored the only goal after nine minutes in a well deserved victory. The stattos among you will be amused to note that Liverpool's last home win against Villa was under the stewardship of a certain Roy Hodgson in 2010.

The big game of the weekend saw Arsenal and Man City share four goals at the Emirates - City lead through Sergio Aguero only for Wilshire and Sanchez to fire the Gunners ahead. A late equaliser from Martin Dimichelis ensured each team took home a point. Southampton's decent start to the season continued with a resoudning four-nil win at home to Newcastle in which Pelle (not that one...) scored twice. Alan Pardew looks a good bet for the sack race with Newcastle bottom of the table after four games.

Everton picked up their first win of the season winning two-nil at West Brom. Romelu Lukaku scored against his old team in that one with Kevin Mirallas scoring the second. Leicester also picked up their first win of the season winning one-nil at Stoke. Tottenham looked to be heading for victory at Sunderland until Harry Kane scored an own goal as the game finished two-all. Crystal Palace and Burnley failed to muster a goal between them at Selhurst Park - Julian Speroni saved a late penalty from Scott Arfield in that one.

Just the one game on Sunday - Man United finally got a victory under their belts beating the hapless QPR 4-0 at Old Trafford - Angel di Maria scored on his home debut and was joined on the scoresheet by Rooney, Mata and Herrera.

Brian Sotolongo and Kris Stainton are the early leaders for September - they both picked up 60 points this weekend. A host o people are ten points behind on 50 - full details below:

Seven goals in four games for the
new hero at Stamford Bridge....

Another feckin weekend ruined....

September 20th and 21st - A bizarre weekend in the Premier League sees Chelsea remain top of the table despite dropping their first points of the season. They took the lead with a quarter of an hour to go against Man City through Andre Schurrle. However, the final twist in a strange weekend of football came when Frank Lampard scored a late equaliser against the club he left in the summer. Those dropped points keep Chelsea within reach of the rest of the chasing pack.

Southampton are in second place following their one-nil win at Swansea. Victor Wanyama's first goal for the club was good enough to beat the hosts who saw Wilfried Bony sent off. Aston Villa are still in third place despite seeing their good start to the season end with a three-nil defeat at home to Arsenal. Goals from Welbeck, Ozil and a Cissokho own goal saw Arsene Wenger's team bounce back from midweek European defeat.

Liverpool are doing their best to prove that last season's second place was a flash in the pan. They fell to a third defeat in five games at West Ham losing three-one at Upton Park. The ghost of Suarez loomed large as the Hammers were two up in seven minutes. Raheem Sterling pulled one back but a third goal late on secured the points and had Sam Allardyce grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cat.

Sunday's games kicked off with an eight goal thriller at the King Power Stadium. Man United looked to be cruising to victory leading three-one with less than half an hour to play. Then Leicester realised that Van Gaal hadn't bought any defenders and scored four
goals to win five-three. Mark Clattenberg put in a man of the match performance awarding the hosts two penalties. My mood was improved further when Everton lost three-two at home to Crystal Palace for the second season in a row. Spurs also had a European hangover losing one-nil at home to West Brom. Alan Pardew looked like winning the sack race with Newcastle two down at home to Hull. However, two goals from the returning Papiss Cisse saw him safe at the time of writing.

The September leaderboard sees Tiago Moreira lead on 95 points - that'll all change next weekend as he's now used up all his jokers. Just five points behind are three contenders - Brian Prendergast, Brian Sotolongo and Dave McGinley - full details below:

Lampard bites the hand that once fed him....

September 27th and 28th - Chelsea maintained their lead at the top of the table with a straightforward win at home to Aston Villa. They won three-nil with all the goals originating in Brazil - Oscar, Diego Costa and Willian all on the scoresheet in that one. Southampton were supposed to be in free fall after selling their best players in the summer. Ronald Koeman is proving that theory wrong though - a two-one win at home to QPR leaves the Saints in second place in the table.

Man City's win at Hull sees them move back into the top four. Aguero, Dzeko (2) and Lampard (his fourth goal in a week) enabled the champions to win four-two at the KC Stadium. Their Mancunian neighbours are upto seventh in the table. They held on for a two-one win at home to West Ham. United were two up within half an hour following goals from Rooney and Van Persie. Rooney then received a straight red card after Sakho pulled a goal back for the visitors. Despite being made to sweat like a 1970's DJ for the last half hour Louis Van Gaal's side held on for an important three points.

The two big derbies both ended in one-all draws. Liverpool looked to be heading to victory over Everton thanks to Steven Gerrard's free kick strike. Howver, Phil Jagielka scored the goal of the weekend in injury time to earn a point for Roberto Martinez's side. It was also stalemate in the North London derby. Spurs lead at the Emirates following Nacer Chadli's opener but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain earned point for Arsene Wenger's side.

Elsewhere, Wet Brom hit Burnley for four on Sunday to move into the top half of the table following two victories in a week. Sunderland and Swansea finished scoreless while Crystal Palance beat Leicester two-nil at Selhurst Park.

Stoke's one-nil win at home to Newcastle was enough to see Dave McGinley win the monthly prize for September. He finished with a score of 150 points- five clear of Cillian Conway and Tiago Moreira in joint second place:
