August 2014 - August was a vintage month with Man United under Louis Van Gaal failing to win a match. What a time to be alive. Chelsea started ominously with a five goal haul at Goodison Park the highlight of their opening games.

Tony Pulis resigned the night before the season started leading to consternation in some quarters regarding the twenty five point bouns for the sack race...

Both Man City and Arsenal had indifferent starts - the champions lost at home to Stoke while Arsenal only won one of their opening three games.

A prediction of one-all in the Leicester vs Arsenal match was enough for Padraic Carney to win the first monthly competition of the season. He had just five points to spare in the end over a host of players - Anthony Hughes, David Cooney, Rhona Devlin and Wayne Donovan. Click here for the full standings for the month....

Tony Pulis ensured a false start in
this season's sack race ....

September 2014 - Chelsea were banging in the goals dropping only two points in the month. Those dropped points came at Man City where Frank Lampard scored a late equaliser against his old employers.

Game of the month, and possibly the season, came at the King Power Stadium where Leicester beat Man United five-three in a thriller. Liverpool's post Suarez hangover was in full swing - defeats to Aston Villa and West Ham were followed by an injury time equaliser for Everton in the Derby at Anfield. 2013-2014 already seemed like a distant memory even at this early stage.

Dave McGinley was our second monthly winner of the season. He had 150 points by the month and finished five clear of Cillian Conway and Tiago Moreira who shared second place. You can see the final standings for September by clicking here....

A new hero was emerging
at Stamford Bridge ....

October 2014 - Chelsea finished October four points clear at the top of the table. Only a late Robin Van Persie goal at Old Trafford stopped it from being six. Southampton were the surprise packages of the season in second place in the table. One of their victories in October was an eight-nil thrashing of Sunderland.

Con McSweeney won the October competition with a score of 170 points - an early sign of things to come for the rest of the season from our resident Corkonian. David Bone and Gavin Morgan were next best but still finished fifteen points off the leader. You can read all about a busy month on Block 102 in October by clicking here....

Waits for a call from Brendan Rodgers....

November 2014 - Chelsea's inevitable procession towards the title showed no signs of abating in November. Wins against QPR, Liverpool, West Brom and a draw at Sunderland left them six points clear at the top. Man City had a good month too with a victory against city rivals United among the highlights.

Man United were finally finding a bit of a form and were back in the top four by the end of the month. Brian Sotolongo found some form too - he won the monthly competition with a score of 195 points and had ten points to spare over Aidan Knight, Kevin Philpott and Konstantin Kulev. A Glen Johnson goal and a clean sheet
for Liverpool on the same day....

December 2014 - Chelsea's lead at the turn of the year was just three points. A defeat at Newcastle early in December gave a glimmer of hope to the rest. Man City weren't giving up their title without a fight though with five wins and a draw in a busy month. Man United were third in the table but ten points off the pace and not realistic contenders for the title.

At the bottom, Leicester were still in last place but a win at Hull in the last game of 2014 was a sign of things to come from Nigel Pearson's side. Burnley and Crystal Palace occupied the last two relegation places - Alan Pardew was on his way to Selhurst Park to turn things around for the Eagles though.

Eamon Fox won the last monthly prize of 2014 with a score of 270 points - ten points clear of Barry Healy in second place. Click here to see the final details for December 2014....

The comeback begins....

January 2015 - The new year started with Spurs putting five goals past Chelsea at White Hart Lane. That result allowed Man City to move level with the leaders. That was as good as it got for Manuel Pellegrini's side though - City drew with Everton next time out and then lost at home to Arsenal - two results which ultimately derailed their title challenge.

By the end of the month Man United were in nosebleed territory in third place in the table. Louis Van Gaal celebrated by feasting on the blood of five virgins and some fava beans. Arsenal were in the top four too as the leaders began to consolidate their Champions League spots.

We had a three way tie at the top of the table in January - Dave Byrne, Jonathan Fox and Sean O'Mairtin sharing top spot with 155 points each. Full details can be seen by clicking here....

Gunners hitting form
at the right time of the season....

February 2015 - The gap at the end of February was five points from Chelsea to defending champions Man City. It had been seven points but Man City were given a glimmer of hope when Chelsea slipped up at home to Burnely, conceding a late equaliser.

The Champions League race looked like being a five horse race between the top two and Man United, Arsenal and Liverpool who were finally beginning to show some form this season.

Paul Lambert was given his marching orders as Aston Villa slipped into the relegation zone - he was replaced by Tim Sherwood who was tasked with getting the Villains safe. 155 points was eventually enough for Gavin Morgan to win the latest monthly competition of the season - you can see the final leaderboard for February 2015 by clicking here....

16 million for one poxy league goal....

March 2015 - Jose Mourinho's cruise towards another league title seemed inevitable as Man City continued to drop points all around them - they opened the month with defeat at Liverpool and also lost at Burnley to leave Chelsea six points clear at the end of the month.

The relegation battle also became a little clearer with Hull, Burnley and QPR all fighting against the drop. A late winner for Swansea at Villa Park meant Aston Villa were still in the thick of a relegation battle.

Anastas Popov was top dog in March with a score of 180 points - he finished ten points clear of Conor Horan and Brian Prendergast who shared second place. The final standings for March can be seen by clicking here....

The day City's title defence ended....

April 2015 - Chelsea didn't qite clinch the league in April but wins over Stoke, Man United, Leicester and a point at Arsenal left them on the verge of glory. At the bottom of the table Nigel Pearson was doing his best to channel Steve McQueen in the great escape as Leicester fought to ensure their survival. They had Hull firmly in their sights with QPR and Burnley occupying the remaining two drop spots.

Cillian Conway was the winner in April with a score of 170 points. He held off the challenge of the people's champion - me - by ten points to ensure I still had to pay out all the winnings again this season! Full details for April can be seen by clicking here....

Almost there....

May 2015 - The inevitable came to pass as Chelsea, fittingly, beat Crystal Palace one-nil to clinch their third title under Jose Mourinho in their twleve year history. They'll be joined in the Champions League next season by Arsenal and Man City. Man United finished fourth, hopefully ensuring a nasty banana skin of a play off in deepest darkest Europe in late August. Arsenal added the FA Cup to their top four finish comfortable seeing off Aston Villa at Wembley. Leicester's survival bid was successfully leaving Hull, QPR and Burnley relegated.

In a fitting finale to the season Ralph Goodwin won his own double - adding the May monthly prize to his overall victory. Con McSweeney and Brian Sotolongo completed the top three in the final monthly competition of the season. All the scores from the final month of the season can be seen here....

All the best Stevie - thanks for Istanbul, Cardiff and all the other highlights....
